simply answered “our lord Apollo wants you to be refreshed before he see’s you”. Shrugging his shoulders Kalus sat down to eat.

Soon enough he was finished and stood up indicating he was done. Instantly the attendant of the room was by his side showing Kalus the way to go. Exiting the feasting room they wound their way through the temple passing through rooms that exhibited treasures far above what Kalus had seen before. Down into the temple they went, though everything was always well lit, until eventually they came to a door, the first that he had seen and here the attendant left him with a nod. Steeling himself for what could possibly lay behind the door; he grasped the handle and pushed, opening it with one large sweep that showed his eyes everything that was behind it. The room beyond was bedecked in light, so much light that Kalus had to squint at times. Around the rooms walls lay all manner of light producing devices from candles to lanterns to devices to arcane to identify.

In the middle of the room lay a large sleeping pallet, large enough certainly for a group of people to sleep on it. To Kalus who was used to a single sleeping pallet in the training barracks of the ludus this seemed an extravagance. On the pallet engaged in an enthusiastic bout of kissing lay the body of Algeus who now housed the spirit of Apollo and another priest who was naked and extremely smooth over his entire body.

Apollo broke contact with his partner and looked up and saw Kalus. “Ah, the searcher approaches, here” he said patting the side of the huge sleeping pallet currently empty “come join us and we will see what we can see”. Kalus hesitated. Part of him yearned for this, to give himself over to the pile of flesh waiting for him whilst part of him feared it, feared what it would mean and if he could ever come back from it. “I was brought here to answer your augury. To do that I need physical contact and a great deal of emotion to power it. Take the chance or not, it is up to you but whether you’re in or out close the door”.

Kalus looked towards the door, wandering if he could walk away and then looked back to the sleeping pallet where the two participants had gone back to their enthusiastic coupling. Then with a final mental shiver of fear he closed the door and turned to the pallet. Walking across to it slowly he stopped to take off his loincloth and lay down next to the living god. Turning onto his side Kalus ran his hand down the flank of Apollo as he kissed the priest in his arms marvelling at the heat his skin gave off. Hot enough to warm his hand and yet not quite hot enough to hurt it produced pleasurable warmth and Kalus began to wonder if it extended throughout his entire body.
